Frequently asked questions
Everything we get asked, grouped by topic. If your question is not here, email us and a person will answer it.
Ordering & shipping
How long does shipping take?
Orders are shipped from our overseas warehouse within 1–2 business days and typically arrive in 7–15 business days. You will get a tracking link by email as soon as the package leaves.
Is shipping free?
Yes — free on every order, with no minimum. There is no shipping line added at checkout.
How do I track my order?
A tracking number is emailed to you when the package ships. You can also sign in to your account and open the order to see its status.
Can I change my shipping address?
Only before the package ships. Email us with your order number as soon as you can and we will change it if it has not shipped yet.
Where do you ship from, and where do you ship to?
Orders are fulfilled from our overseas warehouse, not from a US facility. That is why delivery is 7–15 business days rather than two days, and we would rather say so here than have it be a surprise when you check the tracking.
Shipping destinations available at checkout are the ones we currently serve — if your country is not listed, we cannot ship there yet.
Do I pay customs or import duty?
Any taxes or duties that apply are shown at checkout before you pay. You will not get a separate bill from the carrier after delivery.
Returns & refunds
What is your return policy?
You get a 30-day at-home trial that starts the day the package is delivered. Returns need to be authorized first, so email us before sending anything back.
The full terms are in our Refund Policy, linked in the footer.
How do I start a return?
Email us with your order number and a sentence about why they are not working for you. We will reply with a return authorization and the address to send them to.
Who pays for return shipping?
Return shipping is covered by the customer unless the device arrived faulty or damaged, in which case we cover it. This is stated in the Refund Policy so there are no surprises.
What condition do the devices need to be in?
Complete — both aids, the charging case, cable and domes — and in working order. Normal signs of a genuine trial are expected and fine. Water damage or physical damage is not covered by the trial.
How long does a refund take?
We inspect the return within a few business days of it arriving, then refund to the original payment method. Your bank usually takes another 5–10 days to show it.
Using the device
How do I set them up the first time?
Charge the case, pick the ear dome that seals comfortably, hook the aid behind your ear and slide the tube in. They power on when you take them out of the case.
A printed step-by-step guide is in the box, and we answer setup emails.
They don't fit properly — what now?
Try the other dome sizes in the box first; fit problems are almost always the wrong dome. If none of them work, email us inside the 30-day window and we will sort a return.
How do I pair them to my phone?
Take both aids out of the case so they power on, then open Bluetooth settings on your phone and select the device. They hold more than one paired device, so you can keep a phone and a tablet connected.
Calls and audio come into both ears. The printed guide in the box walks through it, and we answer setup emails.
Is the app required?
No. The app lets you adjust volume and the individual frequency bands from your phone, which some people like and some people never open.
Everything essential is on the device itself — volume and listening mode are physical buttons. If the person wearing these does not use a smartphone, nothing is lost.
How do I clean and maintain them?
Wipe them with a dry cloth and clear the dome with the included brush every few days. Never rinse them. Store them in the charging case when you are not wearing them.
What comes in the box?
- 2 × rechargeable behind-the-ear hearing aids
- Charging case and USB cable
- Soft ear domes in several sizes
- Cleaning brush
- Printed setup guide
Are they waterproof?
No. Take them out before showering, swimming or heavy rain. Water damage is not covered by the warranty and voids return eligibility.
Battery & charging
How long does the battery last?
Rated at up to 60 hours of use per charge. Heavy Bluetooth streaming will shorten that, as on any rechargeable device, so treat 60 hours as the rated figure rather than a guarantee for every day.
How do I charge them?
Put both aids into the charging case and plug the case in. They charge in the case, and the case holds enough for several top-ups away from a socket.
They are not charging — what should I check?
Check that the metal contacts on the aids and in the case are clean and dry, and that the aids are seated all the way in. If it still will not charge, email us — that is a warranty case.
Payment & pricing
What payment methods do you accept?
All the methods shown at checkout, including the major cards and the express wallets. Payment is processed by Shopify — we never see your card details.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price on the product page is for the pair, including the charging case and shipping. Taxes and duties, where they apply, are shown at checkout before you pay.
Is there a subscription or an ongoing charge?
No. It is a one-off purchase. There is no care plan, no membership and nothing that renews.
How do you compare to Jabra, Sony, Lexie and the other OTC brands?
Those are good products and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Most of them land somewhere around four figures once you are done, and several come from companies that have been making hearing technology for decades, with US support behind them.
EarWell sits below them. You get 16-channel processing, four listening modes, adaptive directional microphones, Bluetooth and app adjustment for $499 — but not a decades-old brand, not a store to walk into, and not a US warehouse two days away.
At the other end are the $99 amplifiers. Those are a genuinely different category: single-channel, no feedback control, not tuned to speech. If your budget reaches a premium OTC brand and you want the safest possible choice, buy one. We built this for the people that price shuts out.
Can I pay in installments?
Whatever installment options are available for your region appear at checkout alongside the card and wallet options. We do not run a financing program of our own, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Warranty
What does the warranty cover?
1 year against manufacturing defects from the date of delivery. If a unit fails, we replace it rather than repair it.
What is not covered?
Water damage, physical damage from drops or crushing, normal wear on domes and tubes, and any device that has been opened or modified.
Hearing health
Is this right for my level of hearing loss?
These are made for adults 18 and over with perceived mild to moderate hearing difficulty. They are not intended for severe or profound loss, or for hearing loss in one ear only.
Do I need a prescription or a hearing test?
No prescription is needed to order. If you have never had your hearing tested, an audiogram is still worth getting — it tells you whether your loss is actually in the range these are built for.
Will these help my tinnitus?
No hearing aid cures tinnitus and we will not claim otherwise. Some people notice it less once they can hear the room around them again. If tinnitus is your main problem, see a clinician.
Buying for someone else
I'm ordering for my mom or dad. Can I set them up first?
Yes, and most people do. Charge the case, fit the ear dome, pair the app if you want it. After that all they have to do is take them out of the case and put them in.
A printed step-by-step guide is in the box for the parts they will do themselves — the volume and mode buttons are the only two controls that matter day to day.
When does the trial window start if it's a gift?
On the day the package is delivered, not on the day they first put them in. People put off wearing hearing aids, so order with enough room that the window is still open once they have given them a real week.
Add delivery time on top: these ship from our overseas warehouse and typically take 7–15 business days.
What if they refuse to wear them?
It happens, and it is usually not about the device. Return them inside the 30-day window and the device price comes back in full — email us first for a return authorization.
One thing that helps: these arrive in a box and get set up at a kitchen table. Nobody has to sit in a clinic waiting room and be the person who now wears hearing aids.
Contacting us
How do I reach support?
Email is the way in, and it is answered by us — usually within 24 hours on weekdays. Use the form on the Contact page or write to the address in the footer.
What should I include when I write?
Your order number, the email you used at checkout, and what is actually happening. With those three we can usually finish it in one reply.
Do you offer phone support?
Not at the moment. We are a small team and email lets us give a considered answer and keep a written record of what we agreed. If that changes, this page will say so.
Important to know
When should I see a doctor instead of buying a hearing aid?
See a licensed health professional before using any hearing device if you have sudden or rapidly worsening hearing loss, hearing loss in one ear only, ear pain, drainage, dizziness, or a history of ear surgery.
A hearing aid is not a diagnosis, and it will not treat an underlying medical problem.
What claims do you make about the device?
Only what we can stand behind: rechargeable behind-the-ear hearing aids with multi-channel processing, four listening modes, noise reduction and Bluetooth, sold with a 30-day trial and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
We do not claim any regulatory clearance we do not hold.
Still not sure?
Ask before you order. We would rather talk you out of it than sell you the wrong thing.
